Hello Writer,
Here we are again, taking a look at Live/Write Balance and how to bring it into your experience. This time, while I’m coaching at the Write by the River retreat, I’m going to use this group to list some of the many different ways individual writers use Daily Pages to enhance their WIPS and help them claim their creative identities.
This weekend is the first of three private writing retreats scheduled for 2023, with a fourth possibility on the horizon. There are three more in development that will be open to all members of To Live & Write and possibly one or two newbies.
I host writing retreats several times a year. Once upon a time, this was a dream I carried around with me, nestled in my heart and protected like a precious treasure, with no idea how to pull it from my imagination and make it happen.
You know how I got from there to here? Daily Pages. That’s where I figured out what I wanted to do, exactly, why I wanted to do it, who I would serve and how, what I would get out of it, and which steps to take to make it real.
I cannot say enough about the value of Daily Pages and the variety of ways you can use them, as well as the variety of ways they support you, your creative endeavors, and your pursuit of the ideal live/write balance. But I’ll try, beginning with this, the second in a series about my favorite coaching tool, Daily Pages.
But first: Last week’s two-word journaling prompts!*
#87 - Today and Deserve
#88 - Party and Assertive
#89 - Party and Discover
#90 - Path and Warning
#91 - Believer and Dream
#92 - Perfection and Elaborate
#93 TODAY - Strength and Habit
The most interesting word-pairing for me this week was the one that popped up in time for the retreat: #91 - Believer and Dream.
This prompt could not be any better for me today. I’m here at my sixteenth writing retreat. This one is hosted by one of our members. The other fifteen have been hosted by me.
We’re doing an experiment to see if people can save money on my fee by letting someone else do the organizing and planning.
It’s a great success. The house in front of me is full of writers who have been writing together for years. It’s an experiment, so we needed to be with people we absolutely trust.
I remember the process it took for me to get from the dream of taking writers on retreat to making it happen - and how much believing that took. I had to be a believer to make this dream reality.
It’s been an amazing journey. This is year number six, retreat number sixteen.
If you want to know how, ask me.
*This week’s prompts are down at the end of the page, right after The Week Ahead, where I share the upcoming events and activities happening in the To Live & Write community.
