Prompt Response: Easy Does It.
I'm wearing my Writing + Creativity Coach hat as I respond to the seventh Flash Lit October prompt. I've got my eye on the ebb and flow of writing speed and enthusiasm.
Prompt #7: Easy Does It
In case you haven’t noticed, there’s a theme to what I’ve been sharing lately. I’m responding to the Flash Lit October prompts as a writing + creativity coach and most of the advice so far has been about pacing your writing efforts, recalibrating expectations, and redefining what you consider noteworthy progress.
It’s all part of my plan to help you nurture a sustainable writing habit.
The keyword here is sustainable. Your life is busy. The demands on your time are legion. You’re supposed to eat and sleep and do other things every day that get in the way of writing. And yet, you are driven to write. You are driven to tell stories. You are driven to entertain, engage, and enlighten.
The big question is, how do you live a full life and also find time to write? How do you show up to the page and the story day after day, for the hours required to make it grow, and still find time to be a friend, a parent, a sibling, a householder, a renter, a dog owner, a cat servant, a reliable employee, a reliable employer, a gardener, a chef, a scuba diver, a fan dancer …
How do you balance the act of living with the act of writing?
Easy does it.
