A writing coach (hey! that's me!) responds of the sixth Flash Lit October prompt with an eye to the ebb and flow of writing speed and enthusiasm.
Prompt #6: All at Once
Sometimes, the words pour out all at once. Your fingers fly across the keyboard. The scenes build themselves one after another. The witty banter comes out of nowhere, the characters arc on their own, and the interpersonal relationships deepen with the ease of supernatural possession.
Your brain races to keep up with your imagination, hurling words on the page like it’s a kind of parkour, shaping thoughts and speech and action into story and plot and sentence structure.
It’s the writer’s answer to the runner’s high, and dammit, I wish it burned the same calories because it’s exhausting and exhilarating and addicting, but I’m not getting any slimmer.
